In the first five months of 2022, Barcelona has registered five operations in the hotel sector worth 200 million euros. A figure 90% higher than the same period last year.

There are several reasons for the progressive recovery of the sector after two years of decline and the temporary or permanent closure of some establishments. Among them is the high liquidity available, the recovery of activity and the prospects for the rest of 2022, according to the real estate consultancy CBRE.

Data from the Barcelona Hotels Guild indicate that in December last year, only 73% of the city’s establishments were open. And before Easter in 2022, the percentage of closed hotels had already dropped to 17%.
